BOTOX® Cosmetic

Restylane®
For smoothing fine facial lines, boosting skin’s volume, or enhancing the size and shape of the lips, Restylane® is a popular option. This non-surgical treatment produces extremely natural-looking and beautiful results, and it is incredibly convenient. At our private Bethesda office, Restylane® injections can be performed in about an hour with minimal discomfort and no downtime. Most patients are able to return to normal activities immediately, although mild swelling and redness may persist for a few days after treatment.

Fat Transfer
Facial wrinkles and creases are part of the natural aging process. They begin to appear as the skin’s underlying collagen and elastin fibers break down. Fat transfer, also called autologous fat transplantation or micro-lipoinjection, plumps up facial features with fat collected from another area of the patient’s own body, usually the hips, abdomen, or buttocks. At our Bethesda practice, fat transfer is a popular alternative to other wrinkle treatments because it is a natural option that presents no risk of allergic reaction.
After retrieval via a simple liposuction procedure, the fat is cleaned with a saline solution and re-injected into the desired area. Discomfort is minimized with medication and most patients return to normal activities after a few days. Because reinjected fat lasts longer in areas of non-movement, this treatment is especially successful when used in the correction of sunken cheeks. However, almost all wrinkled areas on the face can benefit from the fat transfer procedure, but multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve optimum results.
Sclerotherapy
Spider veins, which may be red, blue, or purple in color and typically branch out in several directions, usually develop in the legs. These dilated blood vessels can be caused by a number of factors, including heredity, obesity, hormonal fluctuations, certain occupations that require long periods of standing, and some medical conditions that influence blood flow. At our convenient Bethesda practice, sclerotherapy is performed to diminish the look of spider veins, helping patients achieve a youthful, healthy appearance. Additionally, sclerotherapy can reduce bothersome side effects associated with spider veins, including burning, itching, and cramping, as well as self-consciousness.
During the sclerotherapy procedure, a sclerosing agent is injected into the affected veins. This solution causes the veins to collapse and fade from view. The treatment is short, and most patients experience little or no discomfort. Laser Skin Resurfacing
To reduce the appearance of wrinkles, discoloration, sun damage, fine lines, acne scars, and other facial blemishes, laser skin resurfacing is an effective option. This powerful rejuvenation treatment works by vaporizing and ablating damaged skin cells, boosting collagen production, and stimulating development of new cells. Laser resurfacing is an extremely precise technique. Depending on individual needs, Dr. Haverback may suggest that the procedure be performed on the entire face or used to target specific problem areas.
Dr. Haverback utilizes the Ultra Pulse 5000C CO2 Laser to achieve the best possible results for patients at his Bethesda center. This advanced system allows Dr. Haverback to produce stunning results with minimal side effects or discomfort. Although most laser skin resurfacing patients at our practice are able to return to work and light activities in about two weeks, mild redness and sensitivity may persist for several weeks.
Chemical Peel
Designed to improve the complexion by reducing the appearance of fine lines and other facial imperfections, chemical peels work by revealing a fresh, new layer of skin. There are different types of peels, such as Phenol peels, Alphahydroxy peels (AHAs), Trichloroacetic peels (TCAs), and combination peels, which can be customized for the specific needs of the patient.
Chemical peels enhance the tone, texture, and clarity of the skin with very little downtime. They can be used to complement facelift and necklift or eyelid surgery results, or to enhance the effects of at-home skin care products. Most patients choose to undergo a series of several treatments for optimum results. Dermabrasion
Another option for improving the look of acne scars, fine lines, sun damage, and facial discoloration is dermabrasion. As the skin heals, a smooth, radiant new complexion is revealed.
Typically, dermabrasion patients are able to return to normal activities about seven to ten days after treatment, although skin may continue to be pink for up to eight weeks after the procedure. Depending on personal goals and needs, Dr. Haverback may suggest that the procedure be performed on the entire face, or used to target and improve specific problem areas.
